MERRY GO ROUND is a massive orbit of folding mirrors and gradient hues, which echo the soft peeling palette of an old, colossal ship-repair factory, where time has collapsed in on itself. Soaring skywards and spanning nearly 20 metres in diameter, the work alludes to the celestial ring of light encircling a black hole, as a response to how time here is condensed to a scintillating moment. A meditative energy radiates in an elliptical pathway like a clock, as one is drawn towards tracing the inner and outer periphery of the work by foot, passing facets of splintered space, time, and self through reflection and refraction. The perpetual disappearance and re-emergence of oneself and the environment creates an alternating rhythm of the horizon, motion and sensorial space.
