Dawn Ng, Atlantis II, Museum MACAN, Jakarta, Indonesia

23 May - 4 October 2026

A sustained study of the influence of time on the process of visual trace formation, in Atlantis II blocks of composite frozen pigment are allowed to melt and seep through a layer of Chinese rice paper. The dissolved pigment forms soft islands on the paper, conjuring up images of breath, islands, and the sea, which first appear and then gradually disappear as they move deeper. Rooted in a fascination with process, transformation, and the beauty of the ephemeral, the work uses ice as its primary material.
